 Campus Telephone System Upgrade

Description

Telephone Services will perform an upgrade to the Campus ShoreTel/Mitel phone system. Maintenance will begin at 6:00AM on Sunday June 8 and should be completed by 4:00PM.  During this upgrade campus phone users will experience:

  • Loss of campus phone service
  • Mitel Connect connectivity issues
  • Delayed delivery of voicemail messages

We will send additional details out via email to UMSL Faculty & Staff the week of June 2nd.

 Scheduled server patching – Fri May 30 5:30pm – 9:30pm

Update

Patching has completed successfully

ITS system administrators will apply critical security updates to servers. There will be brief disruptions to:

  • Print and fax services
  • TritonApps sessions
  • SharePoint sites (with umsl.edu and umsystem.edu addresses)
  • Remote Desktop Gateway

PeopleSoft applications including MyView, MyHR, etc. will not be affected

SharePoint sites with sharepoint.com addresses will not be impacted

 University authentication issue effecting some services

Description

Update 10 AM – Resolved:

As of 9:46 am, UM System has fully restored the authentication service. All of our effected UMSL systems are fully available again. Please contact the help desk if you experience any issues.

 

Original 8:56 AM:

Some university services are inaccessible because of an authentication service outage at the UM System.

Impacted services include:

  • MyDegree
  • ACP
  • Graduate School’s M4
  • IT Procurement’s BPM12004
  • other applications that rely on Shibboleth authentication

We will provide updates as we work with UM System. They are tracking this outage at UM IT Systems Status – AIMS Database

 MOREnet Fiber Damage to 1 of the 2 UMSL routes

Description

Update 3:02pm

MOREnet has repaired the route, both routes are available.

 

MOREnet, our internet provider has identified damaged fiber impacting one of our two routes. They are working on a repair that is estimated to be complete in 24 hours.

 Campus Internet Maintenance – 5/18, 7am-9am

Description

Update 5/18/25 8:30am

Work was completed.

 

To prepare for upcoming Facilities work, MOREnet and UMSL Networking will be moving critical Internet connections to new protected fiber optic lines.  Service disruption is NOT expected due to redundancies within the network.

 Microsoft Online/365 Degraded Services

Description

Issue is resolved

Microsoft technicians believe they made the necessary changes to mitigate the issue and resolve functionality. We will continue to monitor.

 

There are reports of degraded services for some Microsoft products. Impacted service may include:

  • Teams
  • SharePoint Online

Microsoft technicians are aware of the issue and investigating a resolution.

 TJ Library 1st and 2nd Floor network issues, 5/5 11:12am

 Mitel server reboot

Description

At 9:55 AM we will reboot the Mitel server that handles softphones.

When the server is rebooted:

  • you will need to log back into the softphone client
  • any active softphone call will disconnect

 Mitel reboot

Description

We are seeing delays when checking voicemail, along with poor workgroup performance. Our support vendor has suggested we reboot the server. That will be done momentarily.
