 Maintenance – Cisco Identity Services Engine (ISE) Patching – 6/18/2026 10 PM

Description

Network Services will apply a software patch to the Cisco Identity Services Engine (ISE) to address a known memory leak.

Expected Impact:
No disruption to campus network access is anticipated during this maintenance. However, ISE is a critical authentication and authorization platform that controls access to network resources, including wireless connectivity, internet access, and other network services. While no outage is expected, there is a small risk that authentication services could be temporarily affected during the maintenance window.

  • Wireless Network Authentication
  • Wired Network Authentication (802.1X/MAB)
  • Guest Network Access
  • Network Resource Authorization
  • Internet Access Authentication Services

 Fine Arts Building is being affected by Ameren’s power outages in the area, June 11th 3pm

Description

Update: 6/11/26 5pm Power has been restored by Ameren and Internet and Phone services is back for Fine Arts Building

 

There is a power disruption on campus due to Ameren causing network and telephone problems, facilities is monitoring the situation.

 The Network is Down at the West County/Flushing Meadows location – Resolved

Description

The issue with the network at the West County/Flushing Meadows location has been resolved.

The network at our West County/Flushing Meadows location is currently down. This affects all computer networking and telephone service in that location.

 Network Outage – Patient Care Center (PCC) – July 29, 2025 – 9:30 am

Power has been restored at this time.

 

JULY 29, 2025 – 9:30 AM – INITIAL REPORT:

Facilities has shut down power to the building and turned off the generator to repair a power issue.  There is no ETR (est. time of repair).

 Scheduled Campus Firewall Maintenance

Description

On Sunday July 20th from 7:00 AM to 11:00 AM we will be performing general software maintenance on our campus firewalls.  We do not expect any noticeable network outages during this time but it is always a possibility when updating systems.  Woods Hall Network Upgrade – Sunday June 22

Update 12:30pm 6/22/25

The upgrade is taking longer than anticipated. The majority of users should have connectivity now. The upgrade is estimated to be complete by 2:00pm 6/22/25.

 

 

Information Technology Services (ITS) is upgrading the Woods Hall network switch on Sunday, June 22. The upgrade is scheduled from 7:00 am to noon.

 

During this upgrade:

  • Computers and phones in Woods Hall will not be able to connect to the network (both wired and WiFi will be unavailable)
  • University phones in Woods Hall will not be able to make or receive phone calls.

This switch upgrade strengthens the resiliency of our UMSL network in Woods Hall and reflects our commitment to modernizing campus infrastructure.

 Campus wide internet outage – April 9, 2025

Update: 4/10/25 11:25 AM

MOREnet informed us that our second route has been repaired. UMSL once again has fully redundant routes for campus internet connectivity.

 

Update: 3:48 PM

Internet service to UMSL has been restored. MOREnet has confirmed that repairs have been completed to one of our routes – fortunately, ahead of the original estimate.

MOREnet estimates the repair to our second route will occur tomorrow, 4/10/25. This will restore redundancy to our campus connectivity.

 

Update: 3:15 PM

www.umsl.edu and https://mygateway.umsl.edu/ are now accessible from off campus

Engineers continue to work on the route to campus

 

Update: 2:15 PM

MOREnet, our Internet provider for campus, has given an estimated time for restoration (ETR). They anticipate one of our two “routes” to be restored this evening between 6 pm and midnight. This will return Internet to UMSL.

We will continue to post updates here and email meaningful updates as we learn more from MOREnet through the afternoon and this evening.

The North route fiber has been cut by vandalism.  The south route is still under investigation.   No estimated time of repair (ETR)

ORIGINAL OUTAGE: 10:45AM

We are experiencing an outage of MOREnet, our internet provider. The campus internet, in and out, is unavailable.  Phones are still functional.   MOREnet is working to address the issue.
