 Some users are unable to make phone calls outside the University

Description

There is a problem with our Telephone Services provider and it is making it difficult to call outside the University. We are working with them to resolve the issue.

 

The problem was with AT&T and they have resolved the issue.

Description

UPDATE: October 11, 2024,  10:00 pm

Maintenance was completed successfully.

 

 

 

The networking team will be upgrading equipment on the main UMSL campus network. Although we do not expect any network outages during this time, it is always possible that users may notice some brief network slow downs.

 East St. Louis Optometry Network Issue Resolved

Description

UMSL Networking has resolved the Networking issues in the East St. Louis Optometry Office, The network is now functioning as expected.

UMSL networking is seeing the East STL Optometry router down.  Have contacted out ISP to check the ATT circuit.  Have not verified power at the site yet.

 Voice Mail Problems

Description

There is a problem with dialing x6600 to check voice mail from a different phone, the problem will only be resolved overnight with a server maintenance. We apologize for the inconvenience.

 Intermittant Mitel service and Mitel Connect (softphone) outage

Description

We have recevied reports stating employees are unable to use their Mitel Connect software as a softphone.  We are working with our vendor to fix the issue.

We are investigating an issue were Mitel Connect, our softphones, will not connect. You may see intermittant desk phone issues.


 Remote Site Network Outage – February 15 2:30 PM –

Description

UMSL remote sites (Lindell and East St. Louis Eye Center, Children Advocacy Center Kirkwood and West Pine, Computer Education & Training Center) are experiencing a network outage caused by ATT circuits.

 

They are currently investigating with no estimated time of repair.

 

3:05 update:
From our internet provider MOREnet:
We are currently investigating a large AT&T outage affecting circuits in the eastern part of the state. We have engaged AT&T and are currently troubleshooting.

3:06 update:
AT&T has confirmed a facility issue that they are troubleshooting and isolating

AT&T technician is now at the central office to continue isolation efforts.

AT&T technicians have identified an issue on a backhaul/DWDM device at a St Louis central office that is causing a mass outage on their network. No ETR at this time

AT&T has identified the fiber failure, and emergency locates are now in the process before repair begins. No ETR yet.

AT&T is still pending emergency locates to perform excavation to determine the extent of the damage. No ETR.

Locates are complete, and excavation is underway. Still no ETR.

 

01:22

Repair crews are pulling new cable now. Still no ETR.

 

7:00 The networks at all remote sites are back up and working now.

 Network Outage – Fiber maintenance to Regional Center for Education Work (RCEW) 2/8 – 9/2024 3:00 pm. –

Description

 

UMSL will be performing maintenance on the fiber link to RCEW.  During the maintenance, all networks, including the telephone, will be unacceptable, which will affect the campus network only.
