 Intermittent issues with softphone


Some Mitel users are reporting trouble maintaining connection to softphone. Telephone Services will reboot the problem switches at noon today, which may result in dropped calls or brief inability to connect for a small number of users.


Update: Switch reboots have concluded. Telephone Services will continue to monitor the stability of softphone connections to ensure the issue is resolved.

Update 2: This issue should now be resolved.

 Some Mitel Softphones are having problems connecting.


A few Softphone users have reported that they are unable to properly make or receive calls. Telephone Services is trying to isolate the problem and troubleshoot it. We will send more information as we try to resolve the issue.

 Nursing Admin Building – Network Outage 2/21/21

Start Time: 2/21/21 7:00 am - End Time: 2/21/21 12:00 pm


Contractors will be splicing fiber optic cable in the Legras building Sunday 2/21/21 at 7am which will cause the Nursing Admin building to lose all network connectivity for the duration of the work.


Work was completed around 10:30am 2/21/21, network devices are operational

 Softphone users are getting disconnected.


There are reports of Softphone users getting disconnected. Telephone services is investigating the problem together with Mitel.


This issue resolved on its own for all users during troubleshooting.

 Network Maintenance – Core Network – Jan 10 2021 12:01am to 1:00 am –

Network will be performing maintenance on the core network that could have a brief impact to multiple  buildings on campus.   Impact should be limited to a 5 – 10 minute outage.

 ITS Winter Break Outage Schedule

Start Time: 12/28/20 8:00 am - End Time: 12/31/20 4:00 pm


In preparation for the 2021 spring semester, Information Technology Services (ITS) will be performing systems maintenance from Monday, December 28th through Sunday, December 31st. There will be many services affected at different times and dates, please see below:


Monday, December 28th 8:00AM to 3:00PM  
  Install new network routers for the campus


Internet access both to and from campus will be down. This includes wireless and residential life networks.


Tuesday, December 29th 9:00AM to 1:00PM
Software upgrades will be performed on systems supporting printing services Intermittent outages including

desktop printing, copying/scanning/faxing and TritonPrint services.

Tuesday, December 29th 9:00AM to 5:00PM
Software upgrades to servers supporting the Mitel phone system


Brief interruptions with softphone client and call recording may occur during this time.
Wednesday, December 30th 8:00AM to 12:00PM
Replace Data Center Firewalls Brief outages to UMSL hosted systems will occur during this time.
Wednesday, December 30th 1:00PM to 5:00PM
  Windows/Linux Server Patching Applications/Web Apps, Network-File Shares, Printing, SharePoint. UMSL Websites will be unavailable during this time.
Thursday, December 31st 3:00PM to 4:00PM
Upgrade Network Switches Brief & random network outages across campus as switches are upgraded – No networking or phone service until the upgrade is finished.
