 Oak Hall Network Upgrade

ITS will be upgrading the network equipment in Oak Hall on Sunday 7/22/18 beginning at 6:30am.  Users may experience brief outages, both wired and wireless, during this time.

 Scheduled Maintenance – Grand Center Internet Link

Start Time: 7/15/18 6:00 am - End Time: 7/15/18 12:00 pm

Description

Sunday morning the connection providing Internet to Grand Center will be upgraded.  A brief outage will occur while the physical connection is moved from copper to fiber.  This outage is expected to be less than 5 minutes, but could be longer if unforeseen issues arise.

 

Services Affected:  Wired, wireless Internet and IP Telephone service at Grand Center

 Maintenance on MSC Garage North Switch

Description

Networking will be doing some maintenance on the switch in order to expand the network. Phones, Network wired and wireless access will be down during maintenance.

 Failover Datacenter firewall

Description

Need to failover the datacenter firewall from one datacenter to the other on Wednesday Morning so that other maintenance can take place over the weekend. There is no expected outage, but there is always the fringe possibility of something happening. Should be no user impact.

 Oak Hall Network Outage

Description

The north wing of Oak Residence Hall is currently without network access.  We are actively working to resolve the issue.  Wired network, Wireless network and campus-owned IP telephones are affected.

Networking has been restored to Oak Residence Hall North wing.

 Network Outage – Remote Sites

Description

At 12:58am The AT&T circuit providing Internet to UMSL’s remote sites was lost briefly.  At 1:30am AT&T performed additional inspections to determine root cause, which caused an additional brief outage. Services  were restored  at 1:50am

 Scheduled Maintenance – Remote Sites

Start Time: 2/16/18 12:01 am - End Time: 2/16/18 5:00 am

Description

MOREnet’s vendor AT&T will be perform a class A inspection of all hardware involved in recent problems in St Louis.  This emergency maintenance will be performed tonight from 12:01AM to 5:00AM.  There will be intermittent outages during this time while they inspect all devices and clean all fiber.

 

Sites/Services Affected:

Networking and phones to remote sites IT Enterprises, Children’s Advocacy Center – West Pine and Kirkwood, STLPR at Grand Center, CETC, Center for Eye Care – Lindell and East St. Louis.
