 UMC – Data center maintenance – July 3, 2019 10pm – 11pm

Description

University of Missouri – Columbia network team will be performing a scheduled reboot of their data center edge network equipment to resolve a software issue.  While we have redundancy in place there may be some impact on our services here on campus during the reboot.

Reboot will take approximately 30 minutes.

 Canvas File Upload/Download Issues

Description

Feb 6, 2019, 5:00p-5:15p CT:  Canvas hosting experienced a brief period of file upload and download issues.

Feb 7, 2019, 11:30a-2:00p CT:  Canvas continued to have file upload and download issues.

Feb 7, 2019, 2:30p CT:   Canvas file upload/download seems to be resolved

 Canvas Login Issue

8/28/2018, 6:52p-7:13p CT:  Users reported and our vendor confirmed that Canvas was unavailable for about 25 minutes last night.  Here is the official message from Canvas Hosting…

Users at your institution were unable to access Canvas between 5:52 pm and 6:13 pm MT. Our DevOps team has ensured the site is available and running normally.  We apologize for any trouble this caused for you, especially as semesters are starting for many of you.  We will keep an eye on things to ensure things continue to function for you and your users.

 Shibboleth Down

Description

9/5/17 2:34 pm:  We received information that Shibboleth may be down, which may prevent users from logging into Canvas and other applications.

9/14/17 5:00 pm:  Logins should be functioning better.  Columbia made some tuning changing that helped performance during high load times.

 Shibboleth Log in Issues

Description

The UMSystem Shibboleth servers, which are used to authenticate users to Canvas, Zoom, Kaltura and other UMSL web applications, are experiencing degraded service.  Closing your browser and reopening it may allow you to successfully log in.

8/30/17 10:02 am:  It has been reported to us that users are experiencing issues logging into Canvas.  The Technology Support Center is aware of the situation.

9/14/17 5:00 pm:  Logins should be functioning better.  Columbia made some tuning changing that helped performance during high load times.

Canvas is experiencing intermittent logins. The vendor has been notified and is looking into the issue. If you are experiencing issues try logging into canvas.umsl.edu directly.


 Missing Canvas Courses

Description

Some Instructor and Student enrollments were affected by routine changes to the Canvas load script. This has caused courses for some instructors and students to disappear from their Course Dashboard. The issue has been fixed and the enrollment script is being re-run. A restoration notice will be sent out once the script run is complete.

 Canvas Page Errors

Description

Instructure has notified campus of the following:

11:13 am:

Resolved – Our DevOps team implemented a fix and at this time all users have access to Canvas. We apologize for the inconvenience.

10:48 am:

Investigating – Some Canvas users are seeing page errors when attempting to access Canvas. We are currently looking into the issue and apologize for any inconvenience this may have cause.
