 Exchange (faculty/staff email) Changes

Description

The UM System Exchange Email Team is making necessary configuration changes to Exchange (faculty/staff email) this weekend. As a result, users should expect the following:
• A prompt for username and password in mail clients;
• A request to accept a new security certificate;
• A message reading: “The Administrator has made a change to your mailbox, please restart Outlook”.

Restarting Outlook mail clients will be required.

 UMC – Data center maintenance – July 3, 2019 10pm – 11pm

Description

University of Missouri – Columbia network team will be performing a scheduled reboot of their data center edge network equipment to resolve a software issue.  While we have redundancy in place there may be some impact on our services here on campus during the reboot.

Reboot will take approximately 30 minutes.

 Outlook connectivity issues

Description

UMSL ITS has received reports that some Faculty/Staff members are experiencing connectivity issues in Outlook, and are being prompted for username and password.  The issue is being investigated.

 Email outages reported

Description

There are reports of widespread email problems across campus.  IT staff are investigating the issue.  There may be additional campus services affected.  We will post more information when it becomes available.

Update: Issue appears to be affecting emails sent from printers and campus web applications.  We believe there is a problem with name resolution that fails to lookup umsl.edu addresses.  Mails sent from Outlook and Outlook Web clients appear to be unaffected.  Other services that perform user lookup functions may be affected.

 

This issue is now resolved.

 UMSL Email and Web Applications (including My Gateway)

Description

An issue was identified affecting authentication on various campus web applications.  The issue also affected campus email.  The outage began at approximately 6:30 AM this morning.  At this time all issues appear to be resolved.  The cause is being determined at this time.  Please report any further issues to the Help Desk.

 Network issues for services hosted at UM

Description

UM’s Division of Information Technology is reporting network issues, which may affect access to hosted services such as faculty/staff email, MyGateway, MyView, etc. Technicians are investigating the problem.

 Missing entries in Outlook Global Address List

Description

ITS has received reports that some entries are missing from Outlook’s Global Address List.  This issue affects only faculty and staff email users.  ITS is working to resolve the issue.

Until the issue is resolved, the missing entries may be found by selecting the “St Louis” sub-list from Outlook, or by using Outlook Web Access via https://owa.umsl.edu
