 Outlook Web Access (OWA) – Intermittent Login Issues

Description

We are receiving reports that some users are experiencing intermittent login issues when attempting to login to Outlook Web Access (https://owa.umsl.edu/). Clearing the browser cache or restarting the browser may resolve the issue, however, the UM System Exchange messaging team has opened a case with Microsoft to investigate potential service issues. We will provide updates as we get more information from the vendor.

Outlook Web Access services are now working as expected. If you continue to see issues, please contact Technology Support at help.umsl.edu

 

We are currently seeing some “Gateway Timeout” messages with Outlook Web Access (OWA). Technicians are currently investigating.

If you receive this message, please wait a few minutes and try reloading the page in your web browser.

If you experience login issues with the Outlook application, please try restarting Outlook.

 Intermittent Email Issues

Description

*UPDATE:  UM System IT has resolved the email issues.

 

Currently 9 of the 168 Exchange email databases are in an offline state. Users that are homed on these databases will be unable to connect to Exchange until the issue is resolved. UM System IT Messaging technicians have opened a case with Microsoft to determine root cause and find a resolution.

Technicians are continuing to work with the vendor to restore the affected databases. We anticipate service restoration for users as databases are returned to normal service.
We will provide more updates as more information becomes available.

 OWA Email Outage (Fac/Staff)

Description

UPDATE:

The faculty/staff Outlook Web Access is now available. Please use the following URL to access webmail:
https://owa.umsystem.edu/owa

 

Username will be SSOID@umsystem.edu

 

 

 

OWA (owa.umsl.edu) is currently not working as expected due to a technical issue with setting up the service with 0365. The UM System IT Messaging team has a case open with Microsoft 0365 services to investigate and resolve the issue.

 Exchange (faculty/staff email) Changes

Start Time: 9/15/19 12:00 am - End Time: 9/15/19 6:00 am

Description

The UM System Exchange Email Team is making necessary configuration changes to Exchange (faculty/staff email) this weekend. As a result, users should expect the following:
• A prompt for username and password in mail clients;
• A request to accept a new security certificate;
• A message reading: “The Administrator has made a change to your mailbox, please restart Outlook”.

Restarting Outlook mail clients will be required.

 UMC – Data center maintenance – July 3, 2019 10pm – 11pm

Description

University of Missouri – Columbia network team will be performing a scheduled reboot of their data center edge network equipment to resolve a software issue.  While we have redundancy in place there may be some impact on our services here on campus during the reboot.

Reboot will take approximately 30 minutes.

 Email outages reported

Description

There are reports of widespread email problems across campus.  IT staff are investigating the issue.  There may be additional campus services affected.  We will post more information when it becomes available.

Update: Issue appears to be affecting emails sent from printers and campus web applications.  We believe there is a problem with name resolution that fails to lookup umsl.edu addresses.  Mails sent from Outlook and Outlook Web clients appear to be unaffected.  Other services that perform user lookup functions may be affected.

 

This issue is now resolved.
