 MOREnet Maintenance – 1/18/17

On Wednesday 1/18  MOREnet, the campus ISP, will be performing maintenance on our campus Internet links. During this time users may notice short delays as Internet traffic is rerouted. Users at remote sites may experience a short outage during this maintenance.

 Network Maintenance

Start Time: 10/16/16 12:01 am - End Time: 10/16/16 6:00 am

Description

****  This work was completed on 10/15, not 10/16.

Internet users may have noticed a very short outage (seconds) while we transitioned from our Internet primary path to the backup path and then back to the primary path.

The remote site connections went down at 2:20:07am and were back up at 2:21:51am.

Sunday morning MOREnet, the campus Internet Service Provider, will be performing network maintenance.  During this time there could be short, intermittent outages in our Internet access as services fail over between our two Internet paths.

Remote sites will experience a network outage lasting up to one (1) hour. Remote sites include  Grand Center, Optometry clinics on Lindell and in East St. Louis, Children’s Advocacy Centers on West Pine and in Kirkwood, the Computer Education and Training Center (CETC) and Community Psychological Services  in West County, and the Innovative Technology Enterprises (ITE) building.

While MOREnet has reserved the 6 hour window for maintenance they do not expect the impact to the UMSL campus or our remotes sites to last that long.

 CNS Network Outage

Description

The network equipment in CNS lost power for about 30 minutes this am.  The problem has been corrected and connectivity is restored.

Description

MoreNet Internet Provider had a short outage which caused the campus to loose internet for a few minutes.

 Brief Internet Outage

Start Time: 7/20/16 6:30 am - End Time: 7/20/16 7:00 am

Description

It is possible that there will be a brief interruption of Internet access between 6:30 AM and 7:00 AM on Wednesday morning. At most the outage will last a few seconds while we do firewall maintenance.

 Firewall Software Upgrade

Start Time: 3/13/16 6:30 am - End Time: 3/13/16 7:30 am

Description

This Sunday, 3/13, new software will be loaded on the campus firewalls. Internet access from campus systems and Internet access to campus systems may be interrupted for a short period during this process.

 Benton Hall Network Equipment

Description

An electrical issue caused the network switches in Benton Hall to reboot.  This affected network connectivity both wired, wireless, and phone service.  Network access should now be available.

 Upgrading Edge Network Equipment

Start Time: 2/7/16 6:00 am - End Time: 2/7/16 8:00 am

Description

ITS will be upgrading hardware at the edge of the campus network. This will cause brief interruptions to the internet for both wired and wireless users between 6 and 8 am.
