 MyGateway Connectivity Issues

Description

7:30pm — Disk issues seem to be stable now.  Columbia ITS is working with the hardware vendor to determine the root cause.  MyGateway is now fully functional.

 

5:15pm — Backend disk storage in Columbia is experiencing issues that is causing service unavailable for some MyGateway nodes.  Columbia ITS is currently working on the problem.  MyGateway appears to be stable at this time but we are keeping an eye on it.  If you cannot connect now, please try again a little later as it is an intermittent issue.

 Canvas Enrollments Temporarily Disabled

Description

8:45a – A bug in our data load scripts have disabled some course enrollments in Canvas.  This mostly affects instructors seeing their courses for Spring 2017 but may affect some students as well.  We are working on running in a known good data set from Monday and then correcting the bug.

4:42p – Data in Canvas has been corrected.  Enrollments should be back to normal.  The bug in our data load scripts has been repairerd.  ITS staff are monitoring the scripts for further issues.  Please contact the FRC or TSC if you are still missing any course in Canvas.

 MyGateway Outage November

Description

MyGateway will be undergoing maintenance 11/20/15 between 12:00 A.M. and 7 A.M. Sunday.  MyGateway will be unavailable during this time.

 Intermittent MyGateway Connectivity Due To Columbia Internet Outage

Description

8:30p – 10:00p :  Columbia campus, which hosts our servers, experienced an Internet outage that also affected the connection to MyGateway.  Connectivity was up and down throughout the period.  Outage message from Columbia indicates it should be stable now but they continue to troubleshoot the root cause.

 Intermittent MyGateway Issues

Description

7:00a – 9:00a:  Some users were seeing Status 500 error pages or parts of courses not loading.  We found one frontend web server that needed restarting.  Service should be restored now.

 MyGateway slow or unresponsive

Description

11:30am : ITS is currently investigating degraded response from MyGateway.  Pages are slow or failing to respond.  Refreshing the pages seems to help, but services may need to be restarted in order to fully fix the issue.

1:00pm : Our hosting environment in Columbia had a partial failure cause two of the MyGateway web servers to need restarting.  All should be stable now.

Description

915 pm : ITS is currently investigating degraded response from MyGateway.  Pages are slow or failing to respond.  Refreshing the pages seems to help, but services may need to be restarted in order to fully fix the issue.

10:50 pm : After rolling a restart of all the MyGateway web servers, the responsiveness seems back to normal.  Sorry for the inconvenience.

 Intermittent MyGateway Issues

Description

There were sporadic reports of users unable to access MyGateway. Upon further review, it was found that one of the BlackBoard app servers was not responding. BlackBoard services were restarted on that server and MyGateway should now be working normally for all users.

 SSO Service Interuption

Description

Pass through Single Sign On (SSO) links in MyGateway were intermittently failing due to a crashed database connector.  Restarting the services fixed the connection and SSO should be working properly now.
