 ITS Winter Break Outage Schedule

Start Time: 12/28/20 8:00 am - End Time: 12/31/20 4:00 pm

Description

In preparation for the 2021 spring semester, Information Technology Services (ITS) will be performing systems maintenance from Monday, December 28th through Sunday, December 31st. There will be many services affected at different times and dates, please see below:

 

DATE TIME SERVICES IMPACTED
Monday, December 28th 8:00AM to 3:00PM  
  Install new network routers for the campus

 

Internet access both to and from campus will be down. This includes wireless and residential life networks.

 

Tuesday, December 29th 9:00AM to 1:00PM
Software upgrades will be performed on systems supporting printing services Intermittent outages including

desktop printing, copying/scanning/faxing and TritonPrint services.

Tuesday, December 29th 9:00AM to 5:00PM
Software upgrades to servers supporting the Mitel phone system

 

Brief interruptions with softphone client and call recording may occur during this time.
Wednesday, December 30th 8:00AM to 12:00PM
Replace Data Center Firewalls Brief outages to UMSL hosted systems will occur during this time.
Wednesday, December 30th 1:00PM to 5:00PM
  Windows/Linux Server Patching Applications/Web Apps, Network-File Shares, Printing, SharePoint. UMSL Websites will be unavailable during this time.
Thursday, December 31st 3:00PM to 4:00PM
Upgrade Network Switches Brief & random network outages across campus as switches are upgraded – No networking or phone service until the upgrade is finished.

 Windows/Linux Patching

Description

ITS system administrators will apply critical security updates to Windows and Linux servers. There will be brief disruptions to:

  • Faculty/Staff MyDocuments and Department Shares
  • Student Unix home directories
  • Print and fax services
  • TritonApps sessions
  • SharePoint sites
  • WWW sites
  • UMSL Blogs and other WordPress blogs
  • Library databases
  • Web applications running on apps.umsl.edu, fusion.umsl.edu and coe.umsl.edu

PeopleSoft applications including MyView, MyHR, etc. will not be affected.

 SharePoint and additional UMSL services outage

Description

Some UMSL services are currently unavailable due to an unexpected database issue following scheduled server patching.

Affected services include:

  • SharePoint web sites
  • TritonApps
  • Campus printing

Other services may be impacted.  We are actively working to resolve the issue.

Update: The problem has been identified and corrected.  Services are available again.

Description

ITS system administrators will apply critical security updates to Windows servers and Oracle database servers.

There will be brief disruptions to:

  • Faculty/Staff MyDocuments and Department Shares
  • Campus print and fax services
  • TritonApps sessions
  • SharePoint sites
  • Oracle databases

Most web applications running on apps.umsl.edu, fusion.umsl.edu and coe.umsl.edu will be temporarily unavailable during the maintenance period.

PeopleSoft applications including MyView, MyHR, etc. will not be affected.

 Outlook Mobile App Sync Issues

Description

ITS has received reports that the Outlook app for mobile devices is not syncing with the server. Web-based access appears to be unaffected. Technicians are currently investigating the issue.

 Microsoft Teams missing Calendar information

Description

ITS has received reports that the Microsoft Teams application is currently missing Calendar information for many users. The problem is being investigated at this time.
