 Network Outage – East St. Louis Optometric Clinic, 4/6/2023

Description

Networking is currently investigating a network outage at the East St. Louis Optometric Clinic.

 

Wired, wireless Internet and telephones are affected.

 

1:00pm update – AT&T has a fiber cut they are currently resolving ETA 3 to 8 hours.

 Research Building 3rd floor Network Outage

Description

The third floor data closet network equipment is down due to a water pipe break resulting in switch failure.  This will affect upper floors in Research as well.  Facilities is aware of the issue, no ETA for repairs.

 Internet Edge Maintenance – 1/27/2023, 10pm to 2am

Description

UMSL Networking will be continuing software maintenance and failover testing equipment connecting campus to the Internet.  Internet access to and from Campus may be disrupted during the failover tests.

 

Failover tests successful.  Work completed @12:02am

 Internet Edge Maintenance – 1/13/2023, 10pm to Midnight

Description

Networking will be performing software maintenance to equipment connecting campus to the Internet.  During this time, we will also be testing failover of the campus firewalls.  A brief Internet disruption may be noticed while traffic re-routes.

Description

UMSL Networking and our Internet Service Provider, Morenet need to run a series of tests to identify a problem with Internet redundancy.  All Internet access to and from Campus will be unavailable while the tests are being performed.

 

Outages due to environmental issues have revealed that this maintenance is unnecessary.
